Bagan Birding Excursion (Day Return Trip)
Trip Overview
This birding tour will start from your hotel and end back in your hotel in Bagan. With about 4000 ancient monuments including over 2000 well preserved ancient temples and pagodas dating back from 9th to 13th century, Bagan is the Southeast Asia’s richest archeological site as well as one of the most remarkable archeological sites in the world. We will begin our private full day birding excursion by picking you up at your hotel in the morning and spend the full day, exploring the best birding sited in the open acacia and dry forest dotted with countless ancient temples and pagodas with the opportunity of locating such sought-after endemic species as Burmese Bushlark, White-throated Babbler, Ayeyawady Bulbul, Burmese Collared-Dove, the beautiful Jerdon’s Minivet and the seldom-encountered Hooded Treepie, along with a selection of other fantastic species including Rain Quail, Barred Buttonquail, Laggar Falcon, Plain-backed Sparrow, Spotted Owlet, Red collared-Dove, Spotted Dove, Plaintive Cuckoo, Greater Coucal, Common Barn-Owl, Spotted Owlet, Indian Roller, White-throated Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Little Green Bee-eater, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, Common Hoopoe, Coppersmith Barbet, Eurasian Wryneck, Spot-breasted Woodpecker, Scarlet Minivet, Ashy Minivet, Common Iora, Ashy Drongo, Black Drongo, Black-naped Monarch, Rufous Treepie, Brown Shrike, Burmese Shrike, Long-tailed Shrike, Purple Sunbird and Olive-backed Sunbird. After the morning birding, we enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant and take a short break during the midday heat. After lunch and a short break, we will go back to birding and explore the remainder of the birding sites in search of more widespread residents such as Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Baya Weaver, Scaly-breasted Munia, Red-throated Pipit, Olive-backed Pipit, Richard’s pipit, Paddy-field pipit, Long-billed pipit, White Wagtail, Eastern Yellow Wagtail, Citrine Wagtail, Jungle Myna, Common Myna, Vinous-breasted Myna, Siberian Ruby-throat, Daurian Redstart, Blue Rock-thrush, Eastern Stonechat, White-tailed Stonechat, Pied Bushchat, Taiga Flycatcher, Oriental Magpie-robin, White-rumped Shama, Sand Lark, Red-vented Bulbul, Grey-throated Sand-martin, Barn Swallow, Tickell’s Leaf-warbler, Yellow-streaked Warbler, Dusky Warbler, Striated Babbler, Yellow-eyed Babbler, Zitting Cisticola, Common Tailorbird, Grey-breasted Prinia and Plain Prinia, Brown Prinia. In the evening we return to your hotel and conclude our full day birding excursion by dropping you off back at your hotel in Bagan.
